Heidi Levitt is a Los Angeles-based casting director who has cast a broad array of films, from the Academy Award-winning Best Picture, The Artist, to films directed by Oliver Stone, Wayne Wang, Sally Potter, Wim Wenders, Diego Luna, Kim Nguyen, Victor Nunez and many other auteur filmmakers. Heidi just directed her first documnetary WALK WITH ME executive produced by Oscar Award winning director, Alex Gibney.The film follows Heidi and her husband Charlie ,who was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease in 2019 . The film made over four years sheds stigma around dementia and shows what living with Alzheimer’s really looks like, Heidi won a special jury prize at the Hampton’s International Film Festival and has played across the contry and is now in theatrical release with Outsider Pictures.
Heidi’s career in casting began at The Ensemble Studio Theatre in New York, where she assisted casting directors, Risa Bramon Garcia and Billy Hopkins. Heidi has continued to cast theatre in Los Angeles, working with the La Jolla Playhouse and more recently the Center Theatre Group and Echo Theater Company.
In 2010, she created the iPhone App, Actor Genie - an essential tool for actors that details “who’s who” and what’s casting in Hollywood. It has over 70,000 downloads and has been featured on the front page of the iTunes App Store, twice!
Lastly, Heidi is a graduate of Barnard College and the American Film Institute (AFI) where she presently serves as an adjunct professor for both directing and producing fellows. She is also a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as well and the Casting Society of America (CSA) where she has won three Artios Awards for feature film and theatre casting. She is a citizen of Canada, The United States and Switzerland and loves to travel and work around the world.
