Heidi Levitt is producing the documentary feature film, Walk With Me, that will follow her husband, artist Charlie Hess' journey over the next few years living with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. We will see him as the father, the creative, the husband, the patient, and his authentic self that cannot be reduced to a single label or diagnosis. This journey is personal one, as Charlie is the husband of Heidi Levitt, the film’s director.
Throughout the film, Charlie will meet and interview others with early-onset diagnoses of Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. He will come to know them and their families alongside his own. Charlie will also meet and interview scientists, doctors and researchers. He will show what life is like on the inside living with this disease, with grace, humility and above all a sense of humor.
Walk With Me will explore what people are afraid to talk about and illustrate that there is a lot more to living after a diagnosis than simply despair. The title is also a sister project to Charlie’s art project, Walking in LA, which started in 2016, long before his diagnosis.
